The impact of chronic stress on wellbeing and our physical health is well documented. However, particularly as neurodivergent individuals, sometimes we’re unaware of the stressors that are available around, because they may not register as stressors for neurotypical people and therefore don’t fall into general stress literature. Simply put, often we have more invisible stressors that require our attention.
This workbook can be a handy tool for individuals, families and clinicians alike who are trying to increase their nervous system regulation by reducing stress on it. It builds upon the work of Dr. Stuart Shanker’s Self-Reg model, and neuroqueers it by integrating sensory stressors, the Double Empathy problem as well as co-occurring health conditions that are known in Autism and ADHD.
It’s not designed to be an exhaustive checklist, but simply an excellent starting point that opens conversations and builds awareness of some of these invisible stressors.
To building a regulated life.
